Communication

You might be getting concerned, as you’ve heard about the milestones of first words around first birthday, and two word combinations at two years old - but your child isn’t there yet.

You might be noticing your baby is quiet.

Or, perhaps you’re finding it hard to understand what they have to say - or visa versa, they’re finding it hard to understand what you have to say.

Perhaps your child is feeling frustrated by their communication difficulties; and maybe you are too.

The most important message I can share with you is that your intuition matters, very much.

“Wait and see” doesn’t cut it anymore - the sooner you are equipped with evidence-based early communication knowledge and strategies, the sooner we can make a change together. This change is not just ` your child’s communication skills and their development, but for their confidence, and their connection with you - and with their world.

My approach to therapy is informed by your priorities, your family, and your child, and focused on empowering you with the tools to lead the change for your child. We know that early intervention in communication (and dare I say, everything!) is best delivered where and when it is meaningful, motivating and most comfortable for children.

So while I love my little clinic room (and know you will too!), the magic happens outside of my four walls in which we practice these skills. It happens with you - in the park down the road, at the cafe next door, and back at home.

I integrate my experiences from consistently working with little people and their family’s communication skills over the past 11 years, some of the best coursework and training out there in early years communication, and the essence of you and your little one - and we start our journey.

Communication Services

  • Together with your comprehensive case history information, I incorporate formal and informal assessment as indicated for your child’s unique presentation to develop an understanding of your child’s presentation to discuss with you, and create a “baseline” to help us measure your child’s communication progress against over time.

  • Based on your child’s presentation, we will discuss, practice and refine strategies in our sessions for you to take with you as tools to use throughout your day-to-day communication - and life - together. My goal is to empower you to become your child’s own speech pathologist - connected and in tune, with my role to continually expand your skills and toolkit to meet your child where they are right now, and guide them to their next step.

  • As you come to meet your child’s communication needs at home, our focus broadens towards ensuring your child is also well supported in other environments - like with other caregivers, daycare and kindy. I offer assessment and coaching within your child’s other contexts, to ensure we’re all on the same page.

  • Have you received an assessment, or some support to date, but it isn’t sitting quite right? Get in touch to discuss further and gain another perspective to consider on your journey.

  • I provide clinical supervision to clinicians looking to discuss early years communication and their specific clinical questions and caseloads.
